Woofers
are the 'bass' unit in a loudspeaker, handling the lower
frequency ranges. Spare woofers are available for Bose,
Yamaha, JBL and many more. These are complete
replacement kits that are made by the original
manufacturer to their exacting tolerances.
A woofer
should be installed using a replacement seal or grommet,
that ensures a proper 'sound tight' seal for the woofer
on the speaker cabinet. This will prevent vibration of
the driver unit or unwanted cabinet resonance's when
playing the lower frequency notes.
Tweeters
produce the higher frequencies of the audible spectrum
and are most susceptible to wear. Tweeter replacements
for Bose, JBL, Acoustic Research speakers are available
online through our web store.
Midrange
drivers - these operate in the mid frequency range
between the woofer and tweeter, and represent the sound
frequency most dominant in speaker designs.
Crossover
- most speakers use crossovers to divide the different
frequencies between woofer / tweeter in a two-way
design, or Woofer / Mid / Tweeter in a 3 way design.
These
crossovers are generally constructed using the fewest
components possible so as to not inhibit the quality of
sound. Components are generally capacitors and inductors
and resistors.

refoaming, reconing and rebuilding.
