Retired engineer
I have two pairs of AR Powered Partners and over the years the foam surrounds have deteriorated to the point the speakers were unlistenable. I was googling for replacement speakers when the search turned up the link to Simply Speakers. I ordered one of the speaker repair kits because I wasn't confident that it was something I could do without making a mess of it. The hardest part of the whole process is the prep work--cleaning the cone and speaker frame of all the old foam and adhesive. It takes time but is not particularly difficult. The instructions that accompany the kit suggest squirting a little adhesive out of the tube to become familiar with the flow rate. A good idea because the adhesive flows very freely. I wound up squeezing a puddle of adhesive into a spoon and used a toothpick to apply it to the new speaker surround. I had no problem centering the surround on the speaker cone--just follow the instructions. Also, you'll have to keeping working around the circumference of the new surround to make sure the surround is firmly attached to the cone. After letting the adhesive set for an hour repeat the process to attach the surround to the frame of the speaker. After reassembling the speakers and giving them a test drive I ordered another kit to repair the second set. It's great having my Powered Partners sounding as good as they did when they were new. I highly recommend this repair kit to anyone whose Partners are sounding ragged from years of use.

Your instruction video made the sale!
Before the product review, a thanks to the video guys that showed how to use the product. I saw a video on another site that scared me off. Gobs of Elmer's, cutting dust caps, and a crap job resulting. I re-foamed a pair of 4" woofers in a pair of AR Powered Partners this weekend & had successful results that also look great! The product is great, but the written instructions and video made it happen. My last project started off with instructions that said "Abort this product" & listed the "free tree resonance" of the woofer, yea Pyle speakers, your instructions were in proper English and not just a couple weird drawings, plus you have easy to follow videos. This was my first re-foam & now I would tackle a re-cone with your products. Thanks for helping me bring back a great old pair of speakers & I'll be back for more of your products.

Good cheap fix
These were pretty easy to install and at this size (4") cone alignment apparently wasn't possible or necessary. The speakers sound good but so far haven't developed the bass power I remember Powered Partners having. They are just breaking in now. They have definitely improved during break-in. So far I'm just giving them a 4 star rating.

Speaker Repair - part 2
I previously repaired my woofers and now repaired the foam rings for the mid-range cones of my Acoustic Research AR48s speakers. I'm now able to hear all this subtlety of the music again. If the foam rings of your speakers have deteriorated, it is well worth (and not really difficult) repairing them. Just watch the Simply Speakers repair video for guidance.

I received the Speaker Foam Repair kit in perfect condition in last week of July, thank you. Everything included: 2xfoam edges, glue and instructions. Unfortunately did not have the time yet to try it out. Kit and postage a bit expensive due to Rand/$ exchange rate for our country.

They were fine. I needed extra help because speakers lacked the spacer, and the small size took patience. But now they work.

Works fine, speakers sound lilke new.
Maybe fractionally too big? But didn't seem to be a major problem. It just meant I needed to be really careful to get them centred, -less leeway for error. Glad I didn't need to remove the dust caps as some other web stores suggested was necessary. Don't remove them!! Made the whole process far simpler. There is already a connecting membrane on the cone which holds it in the centre, just follow instructions to make sure it's in the right place. Recommended. My speakers are like new!

Installation on the AR 58BX mid-range speakers was relatively easy. I had replaced the foam edge on the low-range speakers previously, about 4 years ago, not quite so easy. Now, I believe that the performance of these AR 58 speakers is almost as original (but still not as good as my old AR 11 speakers, also with previously re-foamed low range speakers, but use a different mid-range design).
