Cone: 15" accordion roll cloth edge, smooth cone
Voice Coil: 3" edge-wound aluminum wire, 8 ohms, Re: 7.5 ohms
Spider: 5.5" x .1875" cup
Dust Cap: 4" paper
Gasket: 15" standard frame (4 section) or 16" oversize frame rubberized (8 section)

Recone kits include centering shim, instructions, and high power lead-wire
All recone kits are designed to meet or exceed the original specifications

Well, great quality parts. Am having trouble with one speaker, as when I went to pull the clear plastic spacer/shield out, it was stuck from the epoxy that must have run down?? I did not put too much on, but live and learn. The MI-3035 glue was almost all air. And the MI-2000 black adhesive did not have the top seal on it, but managed to have just enough. I am in the midst of moving, so I will look at the one speaker problem, and will probably have to order another kit. I really did follow the instructions from your video to the tee. But thank you again for offering these products. My one speaker sound great. Thanks for now...Jack.

Reconing

I had two Altec V.O.T speakers, 416-16Z, that needed reconing. Never having done a reconing project, I reached out to Simply speakers. They guided me through it. Since the exact replacement kit is not manufactured anymore, the showed me a kit that would work but it was for an 8 ohm voice coil. They had a 16 ohm voice coil made for me at no charge. So all I did was follow their install guide, which is spelled out very clearly, and everything went perfectly. Both speakers sound fantastic. I recommend Simply speakers 100% for any kind of speaker repair.

Q: How does this recone kit compare to the factory Altec parts ( can you even get real Altec voice coil kits anymore? ), is the quality just as good? My Altec Valencias are very efficient speakers, will the rebuild kit change that? I only have one bad voice coil , will it be a good match to my other original speaker? Thank you for your time Doug

A: The coils in our kits are made to the exact same specifications. Edge-wound wire. Your efficiency will not change. We have installed literally hundreds of these without any issues. You won't be disappointed.

A: Yes, the 416 series all require the same 416 version kit.

Q: Good morning. Will this kit be suitable to repair an Altec Lansing 15" driver model 420-8B or is the re-cone kit RK-AL604-8 the correct re-cone kit? Kind regards Paul

A: The 416-8A recone kit is the closest match for the 420-8. If you have the old bi-flex cone, this kit will convert you to low frequency duty only.

Q: Will this work for the 418-8H? if so, what will be the differences? I've heard the 416 is a preferable cone for bass instrument use.

A: Yes. The 418H was a musical instrument design, while the 416 series was primarily used for sound reinforcement and hi-fi applications.

Q: Your Altec 416-515 kit don't have the vented cloth on the dust cap. For the models with vented yoke magnet, Isn't important to keep this specs?
