Constant vibration, time and the environment cause foam and rubber surrounds to degrade. Cloth and paper surrounds can become brittle. This causes distortion and poor performance.

BA A-400 Owner

My Boston Acoustic A400 speakers are like new again (purchased in 1985). I found the directions clear and complete and the materials easy to work with. When I contacted BA and they said the speakers had been out of production for 20 years, I was concerned, but they put me in touch with you and problem solved. Thank you.

Surrounds worked great!

I replaced the surrounds on all 4 of my woofers and both tweeters using the new ones I got from the folks at SimplySpeakers. I also watched their video to see how *they* did it and found that to be very helpful. It was a snap to remove the old surrounds the way they said to and they provided plenty of glue to attach the new ones. I'm very happy with how things turned out. :-)

Came on time and at a reasonable cost. While there was some "elbow grease" involved with repairing my Boston Acoustics A400 speaker materials, video guidance and time it took were all within specs. Turned out great. Very happy with the results.

Great Product, Easy Repair!

This foam surround repair kit saved my old speakers! The online video tutorial showed just how easy this job is. Only minor problem I had was getting the right amount of glue out of the tube and onto the surfaces the first time, but this was only due to lack of experience. Video made this look much easier than it was, but I got the job done and speakers were back to sounding great!

Great product, great customer service

Very happy to have purchased this Boston Acoustics kit and installed it. It saved my set of great sounding vintage speakers. Repair was easy, instructions was included and video available on the web. Great Results!

I was skeptical about the process of repairing my Boston Acoustics A400 speakers that were in storage for 30 years. Simply Speakers gave me all the direction I needed and after watching the how to video, I decided to give it a shot. Replaced the foam surrounds on all 6 speakers, mid and woofers, and replaced the grill cloth as well. The process was somewhat time consuming to do carefully, but the results could not be better. Speakers sound fantastic. Grills look great. I had forgotten how spectacular the imaging and sound from these speakers hooked to my Yamaha M65 amp and AVX preamp were with full digital recordings. Not gonna lie. Stevie Ray Vaughn's "The Sky Is Crying" brought a tear to my eye during my first listen after repair.

Replace Speaker surrounds

I didn’t think I could do this but the social distancing gave me plenty of time. Your online videos showed me how. The kit provides everything necessary and my A400’s sound great and should give me more years of great sounding music.

A: Yes! 2 tubes of glue will easily do all 6 speakers in your system and you will have some left over.

Q: I have BA A 400s each containing two 8.25 in speakers OD metal to metal rim ( 12-020-0 ) date stamped september 8, 1983 ( paper cones are 7 3/16 rim to rim ) and one smaller speaker 6 11/16 metal OD and 5 3/8 paper cones rim to rim.. the metal rims have four screws for attatchment . Im not sure if these are Cerwin Vega speakers . Do you have foam , gaskets etc to use to replave the old ones ? Price ? Derek at dbrindle@ shaw.ca .
