This is not the first time I've needed to replace the woofers on my Boston Acoustics T830 floor standing tower speakers. But it is the first time that I have not been able to get them from Boston Acoustics. They do not offer alternatives or recommendations, and I do not want to scrap my speakers and start the hunt for new ones. Then along came Simply Speakers Model 875. Reasonably priced, these woofers fit exactly the same as the BA's. Installed both speakers in about fifteen minutes. And they work just fine. Good sound. Can't compare them to the originals in an A-B test, but they sound good and solve my problem. Can't say whether they will last, but I'm satisfied for now. The BA's never lasted that long. I like these and appreciate that a firm has been able to come up with good replacements. These folks were friendly to talk to. Ordered them on a Monday; received them in upstate NY on Thursday. The set is now humming along. If you need these woofers, I'd suggest giving them a try.

These woofers replaced the woofers in a set of 30 year old Boston Acoustics speakers, the sound of which had been degrading for awhile; understandably, considering their age. My tech support son found the replacement woofers for me at Simply Speakers. They were super easy to install and the speakers now sound like new -- a tremendous improvement! I am so pleased. The price was right and they arrived quickly.

Excellent Value

I removed the grills from my BA A60s and found the foam was deteriorating. I was about to say goodbye to these excellent bookshelfs when I decided to do a Google search for replacement speakers. Simply came up and I read the reviews. I decided to take the plunge and am very happy I did. The updated speakers sound so good that I decided to update the aging Yamaha receiver to a Denon and I couldn't be happier. Great Job Simply! Highly recommended.

Installed n 15 mins, great base sound @ 1/4 vol. w/nad 90 watt receiver. Almost bought surround fix kit; sure glad i found simply spreakers, saved my t830s.

Boston no longer sells A60 Series 2 replacement speakers and these were a last ditch for replacement for a blown diaphragm - they were fantastic, fair price and they sound great on my Marantz... I was worried they'd be different since they are copies, but they are spot on Series 2 clones - pair that with great service from SS and I couldn't be happier and I'm a real person (lol) Thanks SS, good job.

Q: I don't know if my speakers are A60 series 1 or 2. They were built in Sept 1988 based on a date stamp on the magnet. Will this speaker work on either?

A: This woofer only works for the series 2. The frame on the series 1 is too small to use the new woofer. Please measure the diameter of the original woofer. If it is not 9", then the new woofer will not fit correctly. We also sell the foam edge kit for the series 1 woofers. Order part # BA-FSK-8.

Q: My original BA A70 Series II are 8 ohm. These say 4 ohm. What issues or changes in overall use and sound can be expected? I wanted to use an old Sony STR V3 receiver with these, but my understanding is the v3 doesn't play well with 4 ohm speakers. Was there a reason you changed these to 4 ohm instead of the original 8 ohm? Thanks.

A: The overall system impedance is rated at 8 ohms. However, the woofer itself is rated at 4 ohms. The additional resistance is from the crossover. These will play very nice with your Sony STR receiver.

A: Sorry, no. This woofer only works for the series 2 which uses an oversize 9" woofer frame. For the series 1, we recommend the BA-FSK-828 foam replacement kit.

A: Sorry, the VR975 woofer is larger and this woofer will not work properly. We suggest keeping your VR975 woofers and replacing the foam with our repair kit part # BA-FSK-1028.

A: No type-o. The hole cut out for the W-875 woofer is indeed 7". The frame is oversize (9") so it would fit an 8" cut-out as well.
