B & W 12" Subwoofer Foam Speaker Repair Kit FSK-12Ji-1 (SINGLE)

Finding the foam surround of my sw had disintegrated, I was faced with , replacing the speaker unit, sending off to specialist repairer or obtain and fit surround myself. I understand the driver unit is no longer available , sending it to repairer given its weight , seemed an expensive option , so I investigated a self repair. I looked on the internet and found 2 or 3 offers. Simly Speakers impressed me as they included the most appropriate video for your unit in the details. For those who have never replaced a surround, there are several permutations to how the surround joins to the diaphragm/basket and it is procedure. This is not 'rocket science' but it is important to observe for example , if your cone has a flat or conical edge as this affects the way you proceed. If you follow the guidance given in the videos and the supplied instruction , you should get the right result. In the UK rubbing alcohol is called 'surgical spirit' and is readily available from pharmacies. However surgical spirit does contain a small amount of caster oil. I recommend before gluing , wipe the area with methylated spirit so as to ensure a good bond. I feel that fitting a new surround is within the scope of any reasonably practical person who is capable of observing the instructions. The outcome for me has been a top quality professional repair to a speaker that should now give years of trouble free service. I can fully recommend the Simply Speakers kit and would not hesitate to repair other speakers if the need arose.

I recently pulled my B&W Matrix 800ASW Subwoofer out of storage to find that the old foam surround was crumbling away. I considered taking it to a repair shop, but knew it would be costly. I also considered just getting rid of it since it was 23 years old. Ultimately I found this repair kit and took care of the problem. The sub is repaired and working perfectly again. It wasn't hard to do at all, just took some time cleaning and prepping the cone and frame. Please make sure to watch the Simply Speakers video on how to do it. It makes it much easier.

I usually had a local shop re-cone my speakers. When we moved the B&W ASW 800 foam denigrated so I google searched shops in my new area. When I couldn't find one I clicked on Simply Speakers. I had never done anything like this before and the video seemed straight forward.I purchased the kit. I started by taking a picture of the blue and grey wire connector. Once out of the cabinet I took my time cleaning the frame and the cone. I installed the foam and couldn't be happier. I can't even tell it was re-coned. The sound is incredible. I had an B&W Sorrento sub woofer when I was repairing the ASW and what a difference. I no longer listen to the 600 I listen Through the 800.

Bought a couple of these to replace cracking foam on a couple of B&W PCS8 subwoofers. Used a box opener blade and alcohol to remove the old foam (had become super gooey and stuck to everything). New foam was a good fit. You have to be super patient when gluing the foam to the cone and constantly tap it into place all over until the glue sets up. Took me about 4 hours to do both subs from start to finish.

This kit worked great. I have a new woofer. I was about to throw it away until my son told me about this company. We ordered the material took me a couple days to fix it. I’m kind of slow but the instructions were thorough. Now my home theater is back and booming Thanks

Excellent product - went from having an unusable B&W Matrix ASW subwoofer to having one that works perfectly. Installation was simple, and took a few hours. A much better alternative to taking it to a repair shop. Would recommend to anyone who pulls a speaker out of store only to see the foam has deteriorated.

Great video on foam surround replacement!!! I have an old 12 inch American Acoustics woofer with a poly cone. Do you suggest a special foam and adhesive kit for the poly? I believe the last shop that I had do these used the red Cerwin Vega foam which deteriorated in 10-12 years. Are the Bowers & Wilkins kits any better in your opinion? Please advise. Thanks, Drew

Foam is of high quality, but match to speaker was imperfect and not as advertised. Inner diameter was 9", not 8-3/4", which left very little overlap with cone (and flexing in the flat part of the surround rather than just the round part). Also, surround is described as "angle" but in reality is essentially flat, so pre-stretching was required to make it fit correctly. One other thing - glue supplied is of good quality, but sets up VERY fast. This makes it challenging to use on larger speakers like this, where application of glue and positioning of surround take a couple of minutes.
