this kit allowed me to resurrect my Design Acoustic PS 10 speakers that I have been using for the rear channel of my surround sound system. the woofer suspension had rotted off over time. the parts were custom fit. the results are fantastic. the speakers are good as new.

Just what I needed

I haven't used my PS10's for probably 15 years or so, and had pulled them out of the box to set up a temporary 5.1 system. I have them on stands, and was surprised to see something on the bottom platform after they had been in use for a couple of months. Looking more closely, I saw that it was the dry rotted foam that had fallen down after the speakers had been operating for some time. I automatically thought that I needed to replace the woofers, and wasn't sure if Design Acoustics was still around so that I could get replacements. Doing a quick Google search, I found these replacement foam kits, which turned out to be just what I needed. The hardest part was removing the gasket and then all of the residual glue. Instructions provided were good and I have no complaints. The speakers have new life and sound great!

Foam Speaker Surrounds

Yes, it's a little intimidating, even with the instructions. Most of us don't repair speakers...we go out and buy new ones. I wish I had known that repair was possible years ago. Anyway, it takes time and you do have to take your time, but I'm pleased to say that my speakers are whole again thanks to this product. The basics are there in the instructional video, but I found that there were some variations I had to overcome. For example, my speakers(Design Acoustics) did not use the paper/cardboard flange to which the paper cone was to attach. But, again taking my time, I was able to figure out how to remove it intact. Now my speakers sound like they did when first purchased!! Great product!!

The speaker edge replacement kit and project in general was at first overwhelming. That was until I started. The instructions and instructional videos on the website made this project a breeze. I will probably look at repairing some other aspects of the speakers such as the spring clip to binding post. The staff were helpful with my order and I felt I could call if needed.

Design Acoustics 10" Foam Speaker Repair Kit FSK-10A Review

This foam repair kit was my 1st & went very well. The foam fit well, & wasn't too difficult to glue to the underside of the cone. The instructions suggest it's easier to glue the foam to the top of the cone. The hardest part was getting most of the old foam off, it was messy & had deteriorated to the point of smearing on any surface it touched. A suggestion, take the old foam off carefully, use disposable rubber gloves & a vacuum if possible. Once cleaned up everything went quickly. Thanks!

speaker repair kit

This was awesome. I thought I was going to have to buy some other speakers because design acoustics is no longer in business. The kit came 2 days after ordering. I was able to repair these woofers in about an hour. They sound better than before the foam rotted out!!! Thank you!

Speaker Repair

The foam surround repair kit worked just as advertised. My speakers sound great and it was easy. I used the video provided online to verify the procedure. Once I understood exactly how it was done, I had no problems. I would however suggest that the video showing how to glue the tapered foam be identified better. I had to watch all the videos to find the unmarked one that showed how to install the tapered surround.

A: Yes, but check your cone edge (flat vs. angled). They made your model in two versions. The flat attach kit is part # FSK-10F.

Q: How old is the stock (foam) for the PS10 foam repair kits? How often is it sold/moved? I want to be sure that the kit I purchase will last several years. Thank you, Craig

A: Brand new stock. This kit also fits about 200 other brands and models so we always rotate them quickly. These do not linger here, they are they old, B stock, seconds, overruns, etc. You can expect 25 years on the new surrounds.
