Reasonably handy engineer

Had 4 ten inch Infinity woofers with dry rotted foam surrounds. After much procrastination I ordered two repair kits and one bottle of Foam Guard. I spent too much time trying to get all the glue off the cones before calling Tech Support and finding out that it was not necessary to get all glue off. After that it took me 15 minutes at each step of the process for each speaker to lay the glue down and kept pressing the edge for up to the balance of 15 minutes. Did all four speakers in sequence one hour dry time between next gluing. Foam to Cone, Foam to Frame, Gasket to Foam, The Gasket needed more dry time since it was upside down without air circulation. Finished painting the Foam Guard on the next day (today). Waited 2 hours, re-attached the speakers, put Apollo's Fire and Belefonte CDs on and wondered why I took so long to get them fixed. Make sure you watch one or more of the videos to get confidence level up. Total time for 4 speakers including cleaning off old foam and glue was about 4-5 hours.

Infinity Speaker Repair

I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of repair. At first I wanted to replace my infinity woofers or send them out for repair, but was concerned about the quality of their replacements and opted for the self repair instead. I am glad I did. The order arrived quickly, the instructions were clear, the online streaming video was helpful. The replacement foam and the glue appear to be adequate for the job. The woofer have been reinstalled in their cabinets and the sound that I remember coming from them has been restored. At this point it is unknown how long the repair will last. I used the foam preservative that will hopefully help extend the life of the foam. We'll see

To foam or not to foam

That is the question...thought it was going to be almost impossible to obtain good results. Could not have been more surprised. Following the directions and watching a couple of DIY vids yielded great results. Glue is clear. A big deal if you want things nice and tidy looking. Tacks up slowly. Glad I did this. Speakers sound great. Thanks SimplySpeakers.

The installation of the replacement foam rings went perfectly. This the third set of speakers(EPI, Advent and Infinity) that I have repaired in the past few months, using your replacement parts. Installation is easy, I have a technique that works well. The quick setting adhesive is helpful, makes the job easier. Thanks

Great Results!

I ordered the foam surround repair kit to repair my 30 plus year old Infinity speakers. I was a little nervous about doing the repair myself but after watching the how to video I felt confident I could do it. The most important advice I can give is to take your time. The hardest part was to remove all of the old glue and foam material from the frame and cones. I did a total of four speakers. I had no problems. Everything turned out beautifully. Don’t be intimidated. Just take your time and your result will be as good as if you had paid to have them done.

Infinity refoam

Wanted to leave a comment to say how much I am now enjoying my RSb speakers that previously had been stored in my bedroom closet. I just watched and followed the YouTube videos and the process was simple. Great to be getting use from theses again. Thanks for what you do!

Q: I see these surrounds will fit the infinity rsiiia. Does the foam glue to the top of the cone or under the cone?

A: Yes, this is the correct kit for the Infinity RS3a and RSIIIa. The new foam is installed on top of the cone (just like the original).

Q: I need foam replacement for infinity RS II. You have FSK-10 I, FSK 10 A, and FSK 10F. How do I know which one is correct? I do have a foam replacement for a Bose 501 10inch. Will this work or is it a different size? Thanks, Jay

A: Look at the "Fits Models" tab on any of the repair kit product pages. This will show you which models are applicable for each kit. The RSII uses the FSK-10Ji kit. The Bose 501 uses either the FSK-10A (angle) cone or the FSK-10F (flat) cone, depending on which series you have. Thanks!
