JBL D130 Recone

Kit was well made and fit perfectly. Instructions, especially video, were very thorough and complete. Results were excellent. Speakers work very well. Purchased two recone and one adhesive kit separately so had to pay a lot for shipping.

To me the product was very well made and very easy to install. I purchased this for some JBL D130's that I had and they sound great now. This is the first time that I have ever done any speaker repair let alone a full re-coning. The written instructions were good. The video on how to do this is excellent, very well done and easy to follow. I did call for a couple of questions and I found the customer service to be prompt and well handled.

My first attempt at re-coning a speaker. I re-coned a JBL D-140F that I bought in 1968 with a D-130 kit and had great results. Speaker is now mounted in a vintage Fender Showman cabinet and sounds amazing. Watch the training video many times before attempting as this is not an easy project. Great care is required in applying the glue at the various stages to keep it on the intended components. I am thrilled with the results and the resulting sound is exactly what I was expecting.

JBL D130 Recone Kit

I was very impressed by the quality of the D130 kit. Each part of the kit has been carefully reproduced. One voice coil appeared to be slightly "out of round", but when the speaker was assembled it straightened itself out. The re-coning instructions could be more detailed regarding how to set the voice coil height, instead of saying "refer to original speaker". In some cases, there is no original speaker because people buy the speaker frame and magnet from eBay with no cone. I am somewhat familiar with speakers and I was able to set the VC height almost dead on according to measurements made with a Klippel. Over all, a very nice kit.
