Great surrounds

These surrounds are top quality. I’ve used others, these are far better. I had ordered the wrong ones and contacted them on my issue. The customer service from this company is 1st rate. They surrounds fit my JBL’s perfectly and installation really is no big deal. Get them and put new life in your speakers. I’m extremely happy with the results (and sound)

These were great

I picked up a very tired pair of JBL's at auction for a few dollars, the original foam on the woofers was crumbling to dust. I replaced them with fabric-based replacements and the sound is amazing. This is the third or fourth time I've used Simply Speakers products to rehab speakers from the 70's and 80's and will continue to do so!

Excellent 123a-1 replacement

I had a spider go bad on a JBL 123a-1 woofer, so I had to pull the cone/voice coil assembly out to replace the spider (new SS spider reviewed separately). It was impossible (at least for me) to remove the cone without damaging the original surround so I ordered these for the reassembly. I suppose it would have been nice to be able to buy just one, but I understand that many people have to replace both. I was reusing my original cone, and this surround fit it and the frame perfectly. I also used the cloth surround sealer (which, btw, is the same as the foam surround sealer), and applied it liberally. The original surround had a rather thick, black sealer on it that more closely resembles the black lead coating and dust cap adhesive that SS sells, but I decided to use the sealer that comes with the surround, which dries clear. I actually applied two coats, and it ended up looking close enough to the original. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product, and Simply Speakers has provided what I needed to get this woofer back into operation after being out of use for years. Yay!

They work very good, the paper surround was pretty rotten I removed a little of that and put this on it the problem was solved

Q: I have a pair of JBL 123A-3's but this kit has cloth edges and mine came with foam. Will these work and if so will the cloth edging change the sound or performance?

A: The JBL 123A-3 originally comes with a pleated cloth surround (not foam). If yours have foam, this is not a normal set-up for that model.
