Worked Great On My JBL J350 10" Passive Radiators

My almost 30 year old JBL J350's have served me very well over the years but I recently noticed that the foam on the passive radiators had begun to deteriorate; they were cracked, dry and brittle. A google search led me to simplyspeakers.com. I ordered the kit they suggested for my speakers and followed the video instructions. The only difference with passive radiators is that they have no magnet; they have a weight that floats with the cone and thus tunes it to the designed frequency response. As a result of this you can't set these "speakers" facing up as you work on them because the weight of the whole assembly would over stress the spider and the foam itself. So I put my radiators face up in pots (yes, kitchen pots) deep enough and wide enough such that the frame supported the weight of the entire assembly while the tuning weight hung free in the pot. When I had finished gluing I then turned the whole " passive speaker" upside down on wax paper such that the weight of the radiator compressed the gasket as the glue the set. The result is fantastic; they look brand new. Thank you simplyspeakers.com for a great product and even more for the wonderful instructional videos.

This is the third kit I have ordered from this company. I have redone two old speakers now. The task is not complicated, you just need some patience. My speakers sound great again for a fraction of what it would have cost to replace the components that had issues or even the entire unit.

Saved my speakers at an amazing price

My dad gave me his old JBL 702VXs for me to take to college with me but the foam edges had completely rotted away on the 10" speaker. I thought for sure that I would either have to deal with them sounding terrible or put in a lot of money to repair them. Found the this kit, ordered, and installed it fairly easy. My speakers now sound great and at a great price that made it easily worth while. I live in ohio but I'm definitely going to look here first for any speaker repair in the future.

Good Product

It was definitely not as easy as you make it look in the video and slightly messier too, but it ended up working out. The foam was a little thinner than I was expecting but still worked well and the curing rate of the glue was perfect, enough to make slight changes before it became tacky. All in all a good product.
