Speaker Surrounds

I purchased these from Simply Speakers because I feel certain these would be fresher than from other sources. Also, the packaging was large enough to eliminate folds which could make installation more difficult..

I had 2 JBL2231A 15 inch speakers with completely rotted foam surrounds. After watching the repair video several times, I ordered the repair kit. Removal of the old foam and cleanup of the frame and cone was very straightforward and easy. I. Was surprised how easy it was to glue the new foam to the cone and then glue the foam to the frame. It was completely self aligning with no shims needed. At one tenth the cost of having this professionally done, I highly recommend the Simply Speakers foam repair kits.

those surrounds works great. first, they were a little too small to do the "back cone" job but after pulling and massaging them, they took there place.

Q: I need new foam for my 15" woofers for JBL 4341 speakers. The model number is 2231A. Will your 15" kit fit them? Cone diameter is 12.5" , Inside metal rim edge across is 14 3/4"

Q: I have a couple JBL 2231 A that need refoam. Cone is in good shape. I notice that the cone is glued on its backside (frame side) to the Foam. Does your kit glue to this same side? Second question has to do with cap and dust filter protector. Cap is in good condition with no dings. What are chances there is a deteriorated foam coil filter that needs replacement.

A: Yes, this kit is installed on the back of the cone just like the original. It is rare on the 2231 that the magnet vent dust cover is damaged as most versions are made from fabric (not foam).

Q: Ordered this kit. I noticed not a lot of wiggle room on centering the voice coil without rubbing in my JBL LE15A'S . Just wanted to make sure I don't need shims. This foam repair kit is designed so you don't need them correct ?

A: Correct! If you follow our video guides, you will be successful without removing the dust caps and shimming the coils. The faster setting nature of our adhesive also helps.
