I thought that I had to replace my Jensen 12" speakers because the foam ring had dried out and broken loose from the cone.I saw the replacement video on you tube and how easy it was.The replacement was easy following the video and saved my vintage speakers at a very reasonable price.

generic foam restore kit

pretty simple. worked well though the glue didn't really adhere well/quickly to the speaker frame (metal) such that clamps and a ring to apply pressure were necessary. in the end, i believe the speakers are restored well (though an expert might beg to differ) and the kit is worth the money for sure.

Back to life

I took my Jensen Concert 1200's(I purchased in 1984) out of storage for more than 20 years. Both of the woofers surrounds had dry rotted. After watching your YouTube video I decided to purchase the replacement surrounds from Simply Speakers. I have no background in speaker repairs, it took me a few hours to clean off the old glue and was able to glue the new surrounds into place. They sound pretty good, they are not great speakers but it's cool to have my teenage years setup hooked back up after 30 years, thank you Simply Speakers !

1971 12" CTS Woofer

Found a pair of vintage speakers at GW for $15. Took a chance because obviously early 70's cloth, nice walnut grain cabs, no badge or removable grill. Inside found 12" Woofer "Custom Design by C.T.S" Model 12R-16-8 Code: 137 7110. And 5" Tweeter "Special Design" Model # TS6070 w/4uF cap built into mount. Research seemed to indicate may be an old Jensen speakers (unconfirmed). Date is 1971. The Jensen JSK-12F kit fit perfect and easy to install following standard instructions, applied the surround sealer too. Replaced the 4uF caps with Audyn 3.8uF Poly films. Now these sound fantastic and ready to rock another 45+ years. Thanks SS! You guys always come through and will keep coming back.
