Speaker Repair Adhesive & PVA Sealer, White # MI-1291
1 oz bottle
Speaker cloth edge PVA sealer
Used to treat and seal accordion cloth & fabric surrounds, foam edge sealer
JBL, EV, Altec, etc
Our special formula white speaker repair adhesive and PVA sealer is THE BEST on the market! It is the same glue used by many manufacturers to do speaker assembly. Used for treatment of cloth surrounds in speaker reconing, and foam edge sealer and preservative. Can also be used for felt dust caps with lip to attach to paper cones. Dries clear and flexible.

The glue is great. Looks and smells like some white paper glue, but nothing like it. Used it to glue back the paper horn to the speaker frame and in a short tie the glue was dry, rubbery, and clear. Bonded very well to the speaker frame and a few other things I had not intended to get it on LOL. This is the perfect glue for the 15 " base speakers it was used on to repair a small rip in the cone too.

Gluing dust caps
I used this glue over tarry substance that covered wires set into my old Phillips paper woofer and mid-range. It successfully glued on replacement dust caps. I had to work fast as it sets quite quickly and I noticed that it remains very slightly tacky which I think sustains its flexibility. I have played the speakers many times since and all is well!

Excellent for doping surrounds
I recently pulled my 41-year old K-33-E drivers from my Klipsch La Scalas, and found that a lot of dust had collected at the bottom edge of the driver. The mouth fires through a slot into a horn, so there's a small area for dust and debris to collect. Well, the debris not only dirtied up a portion of the cone, the doping migrated from the surround material to the debris. I cleaned each cone judiciously with a dampened sponge, but wasn't sure what to use on the surrounds. I posted the question to the Klipsch forums and tagged Roy Delgado (Klipsch Chief Engineer), and he was kind enough to reply, "PVA adhesive". Another member suggested that the SSpeakers PVA adhesive works wonderfully. I added a tiny amount of water to the PVA, to thin it enough to flow through the accordion surround. Three coats, and it looks and performs like new. This is the stuff!

It's white but it dries clear
I used this on my foam surrounds and it's easy to apply. I even used it on my cones and dust cap and it turned out pretty good. I'd suggest a fine bristle brush for the cones and such and thin it a little. My speakers look a lot better than they did but if I would have thinned it a little and used a fine brush they would have looked a lot better.

Q:
Hello. Can I use this to seal a small tear in a large woofer cone? Thank you
Asked by:
BobM
- 4/25/2016
A:
This product is better suited to attach dust caps to paper cones, and seal surrounds and cone edges only. Your best bet is adhesive part # MI-3035 to repair a small tear in the cone.

Just purchased the cone edge sealer. Can I brush this on the foam itself to delay the foam from drying out? Is there a video on this application? thank you

Yes, simply brush the sealer onto the new foam to seal and protect it. See the MI-1291FG product page for a before and after photo of how it works. Thanks!

Q:
Can I use this treatment to soften already stiffend old cloth surrounds of a midrange speaker, or does it work properly only when applied to new ones? Thank you for an experts´s answer. BR Markus
Asked by:
Markus
- 11/3/2017
A:
We use this primarily for new surrounds, but it may work to help soften older stiff cloth surrounds if the original sealer was a PVA based material.
