The most common problem with speakers are rotted, torn or damaged surrounds. The surround is the outer suspension part of the cone. Constant vibration, time and the environment cause foam and rubber surrounds to degrade. Cloth and paper surrounds can become brittle. This causes distortion and poor performance.

Excellent product.I add to rebuild 2 kevlar and 2 aluminium 20 years old B & W speakers. Replacement price 1200$ each florstander speaker. Thank You.

It seemed that the repair kit was made to fit a number of different manufactures. The edges were much shorter than stock and virtually impossible to install without getting glue everywhere...............................Response from Simply Speakers: Thanks for the review, and sorry to hear you had trouble with the adhesive.

Fantastic kit

My surrounds had been cracking/failing for a few years now and my cat recently dug her claws into one of them by accident, so I was screwed. I looked around for replacements from B&W but they were too much money. This kit seemed to be the best solution and honestly, it was a piece of cake to install. I used some glue remover from iFixit (rubbing alcohol most) and the old surrounds came right off, no damage what so ever. The new surrounds went right on, the glue and spreading brush, couldn't have worked better. Within an hour after gluing the surrounds were stuck and the speakers went back into the cabinets and have been playing music ever since. Thanks for making a great and simple kit, very happy with the results and highly recommend to anyone doing this on B&W speakers. For paper cones, it maybe tricker, but for the polyester and metal cones of the B&W, it was no problem!

speaker repair made easy

i unboxed my old B&W bookshelf speakers after a few years of poor storage to find the cones were rock solid. I was really bummed but then remember seeing something on youtube about reconing old speakers. My new google search landed me here. I followed all the instructions, which was very easy to do becuase every step is very clear and really easy if you take your time. I just finished the project and my old speakers are like new again and i could not be happier. I highly recommend this product to anyone. Everything you need is included and everything is very high quality. Best part is, it saved my speakers from ending up in the landfill.
