This is a direct copy of the famous JBL LE5 series 5" cast frame midrange used by JBL in several popular home and pro studio monitors for over 30 years. JBL made several variations of this model over the years, all built on the same frame. Some original JBL LE5 versions use spring button terminals and some versions use .250 male and .250 female terminals. You may request a pair of male and female crimp on connectors to attach to your new LE5 midrange if needed.

This midrange offers precise response, high efficiency and great sound!

This is an excellent sounding driver. I used them in a custom JBL project, although a little less efficient, they are definitely more linear than a stock LE-5 or 104H2. The coated aluminum dome makes for a very nice transition between the mid and tweeter. MAKE SURE TO REVERSE THE POLARITY when using as a replacement for a stock LE-5 or 104H, as the voice coil winding is reversed from the standard JBL product.

Speakers

There were a total of 6 speakers ordered. 2 woofers, 2 midrange,, and 2 tweeters. I ordered them for a friend as he has no computer access, and does not use credit cards. He is restoring DLK4 speaker towers. He is not done yet with the project, however he was pleased with all of the speakers and they arrived in perfect condition.

Speakers perform well. Very clear vocals & fast transients. Impressive. Was hoping to get push +/- terminals as in genuine LE5-2 but received male female terminals. So a bit of fiddling around on install.

Q: Your JBL LE5 model fit list shows will replace the original that came with the JBL Century L100 speaker . Original seems to be a LE5-2. However my mid range speaker has plain wire ends that connect to locking type clips on speaker. The LE5 seems to need terminals to attach the 2 wires. Does the LE5 come with them ? If not what size terminals do I need to obtain. At the sale price your offering 59.95 seems like a great deal to get this great speaker fully functional again, Thank you, Keith, looking forward to hearing from you.

A: Thanks. Some version of the JBL LE5 midrange use spring terminal connectors. When ordering, please ask for the wire clips and we will include them at no charge so you can hook these up to your system without any issues.

Q: My 2007 Toyota Sequoia's front JBL speakers are rattling. which model do you suggest to replace them? Is there a foam repair kit that would solve the distortion that I am getting? what size are these speakers and I noticed that there is also a small woofer next to them.

A: We have not used the JBL LE5 mid ranges for your model. However, if the size and impedance are similar to your originals, then there is no reason they wouldn't work.

Q: Would this midrange speaker work as a replacement for altec model nine?

A: We have not used this midrange for the Altec Model 9, but it would certainly work if you make an adapter plate to mount it to the cabinet since the overall size is smaller than the Model 9 midrange.
